Summary

This Comenius project aims to develop skills by Total Communication at hearing impaired children and to form the inclusive attitudes, promoting tolerance and accepting cultural and human differences.

The institutions involved in the project are schools for hearing-impaired students, traditional schools which are located in five countries: Romania, Hungary, Turkey, Poland and Czech Republic. The visits to the partner schools and the mutual knowledge of the specific cultures and traditions of the countries were the partner schools are originated will develop the understanding among young people and educational staff toward the diversity of European languages and cultures will highlight the values of cooperation and communication.

Students with hearing disabilities have difficulties in understanding complex verbal messages conveyed through mass - media or internet. The project makes accessible the information related to the concept of European integration for students with hearing disabilities and forms the attitudes necessary for an active European citizenship.  

The project will motivate students to develop minimum communication skills in English and ICT.

The exchange of experience among teachers will lead to improved pedagogical practices.

The final products of the project will be an educational software
The distribution of the educational software and its presentation in regular schools will have as impact the creation of inclusive attitudes among pupils in those schools and will promote equal opportunities and social cohesion by raising awareness of the local communities regarding the valences of the Total Communication and its importance for people with hearing disabilities
