Meeting in Hungary - Budapest, 20-25 Mai 2012

The second work meeting between the partner schools took place in Budapest, Hungary during the period 20-25 May 2012. Our school effectuated 6 mobilities with this occasion, two for teachers and four for pupils.

In the morning of 21st of May 2012 we visited the host school and we assisted to the performance prepared by their pupils called “Beyond the barriers of communication”. Then, the workshop “Total communication” took place. During the workshop each partner school brought out to everyone’s attention a presentation with the purpose of defining the concept in a descriptive way, as a method of approaching the education of hearing impaired children and concrete ways to apply this educational method in every partner school; also, exchange of opinions and debates took place. At the end of these debates we assisted at the inauguration festivities for a new sports field organized by the host country and we were invited to have lunch in the summer garden of the school.

The afternoon was dedicated to a visit of the main touristic places of the capital city and to finding out a part of their history by taking a tour of the city by the bus accompanied all along by a touristic guide who offered us information about the architecture, the significance of different buildings and elements of the town developing history. The night ended with a tour on the Danube by boat when we had yet another chance to admire some touristic buildings on the margin of the river.

The second day we visited the Parliament building and the Buda Castel. In the mean time we had the chance to hear some presentations and explanation in order to understand the live stile of the citizens of this country and their cultural specific. The teachers and the pupils had the opportunity to communicate and to get to know each other better, and also to compare the culture and traditions of the partner school countries.

The next day was dedicated to the visit of the main touristic places nearby the city (Visegrád –Esztergom, Visegrád Castle, Esztergom Basilica).  We had stops in the nature and the pupils were trained to learn the sign language specific to each partner country, the dactyl system, ways of communicating and teaching used in the partner schools. The trip was an excellent outdoor opportunity to learn and exchange experience between teachers and pupils of all partner schools.

The last day spent at the host school was dedicated to final discussions, to conclusions, to expressing some opinions and taking decisions regarding the next steps in implementing the project. It was also established the period when the next meeting will take place and the evaluation of the Hungary meeting results.
